Can I get somebody else to write articles for me?

"How do I get articles written on my topic? I've written the outlines of some articles, but I don't have time to write them out in full."
Use a service like elance.com to find writers.

I've never had Elance writers do articles, but I have had them write entire e-books for me. The going rate seems to be about US$8-10 per page. So for 15 articles, you're looking at about US$150, though I would be tempted to set a budget of US$200 to get a higher quality response.

If you go to Elance.com, browse the projects and search for articles, you'll see a whole bunch of other projects listed here. Use them as a model for writing your bid.

Attach your article outlines as part of the bid, so that the writers can see what you have written already, and can base your bid on that.

Say something like "300-400 word articles" or "one-page articles" so they know the length.

When you do choose somebody, ask them to feed the articles to you as they write them, so that you can review them as you go and keep track of progress.

Elance.com is a wonderful resource for suppliers in a variety of areas.

Does writing articles for other e-zines work in a niche market?

"When guys like you say there are newsletters out there that I can tap into, are they only in the mainstream lines of sales, marketing, leadership, motivation etc., or is there also a plethora of newsletters that I can hook into in my area (music education)?"
You might have to dig deeper than the sales/marketing folk to
find suitable newsletters. However, it also means that there's less competition, so editors will be more willing to print your articles.

Check out ezinesearch.com. I would guess that there are lots of education-related newsletters that might be suitable for you.

Should my articles on my Web site be in PDF?

"I've articles on my website in pdf format..is this how you would include them on your site?"
The advantage of PDF is that the layout appears exactly the same to all users. So if your article has columns, pictures, tables or things where layout is important, PDF is the best option.

However, otherwise it's better to re-do the articles as normal Web pages. It's just more familiar to users. However, if that requires lots of extra work, leaving them as PDF is just fine.
